Phantasm is my favorite horror movie. I love it so much that it gives me a cozy feeling. But did you know it’s also a fairy tale?
I discovered Phantasm during the VHS craze of the ’80s and watched it repeatedly over the years. It never fails to unnerve me. It’s a fascinating little low-budget chiller. The director also made The Beastmaster, which I love to pieces as well.
I never really saw Phantasm as a fairy tale, but I’m willing to come aboard with that interpretation.
As for comforting horror, by which I mean horror films I can return to again and again, The Black Cat (1934) would have to be at the top of my list.

Oh, The Black Cat! I only saw that one once, but I was blown away by the look of it, and also how diabolical the plot was. Good call! I will rewatch. Thanks for listening and commenting!
