Hey, I’m Erin. I’ve had this site for 10 years, and few other blogs before that. I’m interested in cult and classic cinema, mostly the flawed-but-interesting or unfairly overlooked. I also talk about detective shows sometimes, and TV movies. I discuss a lot of horror, focusing on fear of tech, J-horror, Hong Kong horror comedies, Euro horror of the 70s and 80s, horror auteur theory, and recently I’ve become interested in cinema of the lockdown era. I’m also fascinated with classic period pieces, and movies set at Christmas that aren’t Christmas movies.
I did an English lit degree so I see symbolism everywhere, and I like to analyze but not review or recommend. If I cover a movie, it probably means I think it’s worth a look.
And now I have a YouTube channel! If you want to hear me talking about movies, I’d love to have you join the conversation on Erin Strolls Through Films: https://youtube.com/@erinstrolls
Anyway, I know a lot of people would rather read than listen, so I’ve started cleaning up my spoken transcripts and posting them here. So if you got here by reading my older stuff and then clicked on something new and wonder why the “voice” has changed, it’s because I went from writing long essays to just talking into a mic and transcribing it. Still the same old me! Take a look around and enjoy!
Here’s one of my videos, from when I was calling myself Tell Me A Movie. I think this is the best example of my YouTube work.
The new site looks great! Hope you guys are doing well! Don’t know if you two got a chance to check it out yet, but I figured if anybody could appreciate SEVEN DORMS OF DEATH, it’s you two! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL48M3oCGB_vjY7iCkSJra-IR76bBEjaw3

If this is who I think it is, we sure miss talking to you, but I can understand why someone wouldn’t want to be on Facebook anymore, lol. We’ll definitely watch some of your new series in the morning when Dan gets home from work. Thanks for the link!

It is indeed, and you should at least have my e-mail address now. Drop me a line any old time! We all have to hook up in person at some point!

Sounds good…I look forward to discovering new movies from your blog. I’m not very familiar with the “genres” or “sub-genres” you mention.

Sounds good…but just be gentle…I’m a big chicken when it comes to horror 😉 When I was a teen, I loved horror (I’d read and watch with pleasure) and these days, I’m too scared to even start one…
Seriously, I’m looking forward to your recommendations.

Have you seen Lake Mungo? That’s the modern haunted house movie I recommend often. Another good one from this century is Pontypool, which is sort of a zombie movie but a thinking person’s one.

No…never heard of them…hmmm, they look interesting. Maybe I should just give them a go…during the day 🙂
They’re on my To Watch list now and I promise I’ll keep you posted once I’ve watched them. Thank you soooo much!
