If you’ve been a reader for a while you may remember that I am obsessed with classic horror movie trailers. Therefore I was delighted when my son came home telling us he was assigned as a science project to make a trailer for a fictional classic monster movie called Worms! As a family we had a blast working on this, although my proposed menacing tagline “They’ll play pinochle on your snout!” was rejected. Oh, well. I still managed to get a breakdancing clip included, and my son got some editing practice. See if you can name the movie clips and the music we borrowed. Also, check back here next week when I join the Great Villains Blogathon to talk about a David Lynch villain!
That’s great! I wish I had cool parents to help me with projects when I was in school. I’m guessing most of those clips are from Squirm. I saw Tremors and Dawn of the Dead in there too. Didn’t recognize the music at all.
The David Lynch character that stands out to me the most is that creepy smiling guy from the party in Lost Highway who tells Bill Pullman to call him at home and somehow answers the phone while he’s still standing there. No more than a five minute scene, but it stuck with me. I remember reading the actor who played that character someone (maybe his wife?).

That was Robert Blake, and he scared the crap out of me in that role! It was the cold way you hear his voice say, “Give me back my phone” that got me. He was in jail for a while for having his wife killed several years later, but ended up being acquitted I think.
You’re right about Tremors and Squirm, and there’s a worm scene from City of the Living Dead. The music in the second half is from The Beyond.

Bravo! You made terrific use of found footage, and captured the campy nature of the “animals strike back” horror genre – my favorite is the 70’s “Frogs” and the more recent (not for kids of course) “Zombeavers!”
